A Week Long Celebration of National Parks

Each April, during the presidentially-proclaimed National Park Week, the National Park Service joins with the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, to celebrate America’s treasures. National Park Week is a time to explore amazing places, discover stories of history and culture, help out, and find your park!

Get ready to celebrate National Park Week 2019 from April 20 to 28! Parks across the country will host a variety of special programs and events. To kick off National Park Week, all entrance fees are waived on Saturday, April 20! There are also special days during the week to highlight the different ways you can enjoy your national parks.

National Park Week Theme Days

  • SATURDAY, APRIL 20 – National Junior Ranger Day
  • SUNDAY, APRIL 21 – Military & Veterans Recognition Day
  • MONDAY, APRIL 22 – Earth Day
  • TUESDAY, APRIL 23 -Transportation Tuesday
  • WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24 Wild Wednesday
  • THURSDAY, APRIL 25 – Throwback Thursday
  • FRIDAY, APRIL 26 – Friendship Friday
  • SATURDAY, APRIL 27 – BARK Ranger Day
  • SUNDAY, APRIL 28 – Park Rx Day

Did you know National Park Week is recognized by a resolution of Congress and presidential proclamation? Each year, National Park Week is declared a special time to celebrate national parks and programs across the country and to encourage everyone to get out to enjoy natural and cultural heritage and recreational opportunities they provide.

Beginning April 18, a frame for National Park Week will be available on Facebook! Here’s how you can update your profile image to show your love of national parks.

Step 1: Click on your profile image and select “Update.”
Step 2: Select “Add Frame.”
Step 3: Search “National Park Service.”
Step 4: Choose frame and “Save.”

It’s back! During National Park Week, use #FindYourPark on Twitter for a special ranger emoji to appear on your tweets.

Find an Event
Set the calendar to April 20 to 28 to find special events and activities happening at national parks across the country in celebration of National Park Week.
