The Holiday Express Steams Through Portland

Join Santa Claus and his elves for a magical ride behind the world-famous former Southern Pacific Daylight steam locomotive, number 4449. All trains depart (and arrive) from Oaks Park (7805 SE Oaks Park Way, Portland, OR 97202) where you will be transported through wilderness hidden in the heart of the city. Round-trips run from Oaks Park Station through Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge to the Springwater Trail gateway on the Oregon Pacific Railroad.

The Holiday Express is organized and operated by the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation. This special holiday train operates November 23, 24, December 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, and 16. The Holiday Express operates at various times on each of the days with the earlier train departing at 10:00 a.m., and the latest train departing at 8:00 p.m. on selected December evenings. There are three ticket prices depending on the specific night of operation. Adult tickets range from $18.00 to $21.50 and children’s tickets range from $11.50 to $15.00. There are other ticketing options for families and members of the museum.

Tickets are on now on sale through TicketsWest or by calling 800-992-TIXX (8499). Please note that the Holiday Express trains do not depart from the Rail Heritage Center. Net proceeds will be used to operate the Rail Heritage Center in the OMSI District, home of Portland’s historic steam locomotives.
